Form Plugins Race to Ship Native Blocks
The contact-form market is rebuilding itself as blocks. Some of the rebuilds are real products. Some are shortcodes wearing a block wrapper.

Every form plugin with a marketing team now has a “native block.” Click it and you may get a real editor experience, or you may get a placeholder that opens the old UI in a modal.
The honest versions let you style fields with theme.json and keep entries in a custom post type. The dishonest versions still store everything in an unindexed table named after 2012.
If you are picking a form plugin in 2026, ignore the block badge and ask where the data lives.
