WordPress 6.9 Beta Puts Data Views in the Spotlight

The next major release spends its energy on listing screens, not another writing surface. We look at what actually changed for editors and site builders.

WordPress 6.9’s beta is less about a new way to write and more about a new way to find what you already wrote. Data views — filters, layouts, and saved screens for posts, pages, and patterns — are the headline.

For agencies that manage 400 pages of stale services copy, this is the feature that should have shipped years ago. For writers, it is a quieter dashboard that does not hide the draft you need.

The beta still wobbles on custom post types with eccentric caps. That is expected. The direction is the story: WordPress is remembering that publishing is a pile of records, not only a canvas.
