Map Plugins Stop Putting API Keys in the Footer
Keys move to a restricted referrer setup and a server proxy. The ones that still print a key in HTML are now the story.

A map key in the footer is a gift to whoever wants your quota. Proxied requests and referrer restrictions are not optional in 2026.
If the plugin readme still says ‘paste your key in settings and we print it,’ it is not a map plugin. It is a billing event.
