Openverse Search Lands Directly in the Media Library
Editors can search openly licensed images without leaving wp-admin. Attribution is attached. The usual caveats about taste still apply.

A long-requested loop just closed: search Openverse from the media modal, insert, and keep the license string with the attachment.
This will not replace a photo editor. It will replace a tab of unpaid stock that never got attributed. That is already a win.
Site owners who care about brand photography should treat this as a draft image source, not a campaign source. The commons is generous. It is not your art director.
