The dashboard, she says, still greets people with a hallway of doors. Plugins, the Site Editor, classic menus, and a dozen “quick setup” banners all talk at once. Elena’s workshops start by hiding most of that and teaching one job: publish a page that a visitor can read.
We talk about learning styles, the myth that everyone wants to be a developer, and why wellness language is not fluff when a student is staring at a white screen. She uses short wins, printed checklists, and a hard rule: no marketplace shopping in week one.
The second half is practical. Elena wants default themes to ship with fewer global styles, clearer template names, and a first-save experience that does not feel like breaking the site. If WordPress wants the next million builders, it has to feel like a kitchen, not a cockpit.
